Physician Bios

Glen Tate, MD

A native of Bland County, VA, Dr. Tate attended the University of Virginia Medical School following graduation from Berea College in Berea, KY. He completed a Family Practice residency at Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, VA and is certified in geriatric medicine. He has practiced family medicine at Tri Area Community Health Center at Laurel Fork since 1984 and has served as Medical Director since 1989. He is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, the American Board of Family Practice and National Board of Medical Examiners. Dr. Tate has held an appointment as Clinical Assistant Professor in Family Medicine with the University of Virginia School of Medicine since 1994. He is a consulting medical staff member of Twin County Regional Hospital. He and his wife Janet live in Laurel Fork, VA and have two children.

 
 

Jacqueline Webb, PNP

Jacki Webb is a Board Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner specializing in the care of infants, children, and teens. Originally from Pennsylvania, she received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from UVA and a Master of Science in nursing from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. She joined the Tri-Area Community Health Center at Laurel Fork in 1994. She is a fellow in the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners, the past President of the Twin County Prevention Coalition, a Basic Life Support instructor, has Twin County Regional Hospital Allied Privileges, and is certified in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support and Pediatric Advanced Life Support. She lives in Laurel Fork, VA with her husband and three children, and enjoys all kinds of outdoor activities including skiing, horseback riding, water sports, hiking, camping, and coaching soccer.

 
 

Steven R. Huff, MD

Dr. Steven R. Huff is a board-certified Family Physician with prior Emergency Room, Obstetrical and Intensive Care experience. He came to the Tri-Area Community Health Center at Laurel Fork in August 2002 and previously practiced in Stuart, VA since 1995. He is a graduate of the University of Virginia and Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, VA. He completed his family practice residency at Lancaster General Hospital in Lancaster, PA. He, his wife and two children live in Stuart. His interests include various sports, painting, and writing. He is a columnist for a regional daily newspaper.

 
 
 

Jennifer Bennett, CFNP

Jennifer Bennett , a ANCC board certified family nurse practitioner, joined Tri-Area Health Clinic in 2007. Her education includes graduation from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston with her Master's Degree in Nursing and from the University of Phoenix with a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing. She has extensive nursing experience prior to becoming a nurse practitioner. Some of this experience includes nursing administration at both the Beckley, WV and Charleston, SC Veterans Administration Medical Centers, critical care, emergency room, and multiple home health care agencies. She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau, the Honor Society for Nursing, the American Nursing Association, and the MUSC Alumni Association. She lives in Meadows of Dan with her husband and three boys and enjoys spending time with her family and various animals. Hobbies include baking, boating, reading, and gardening.


 


Melody Counts, MD

Dr. Counts is originally from Russell County, Virginia, where her parents still live. She attended the University of Virginia for undergraduate and medical school. She then traveled to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where she completed her family medicine internship and residency at Baton Rouge General Medical Center. Dr. Counts enjoys working in community health centers in rural areas. She is married to Clint Thompson, a Louisiana native, and they have a beautiful baby girl. Dr. Counts is an animal lover who also enjoys reading and spending time with her family.
