Physician Bios

Bozenna Liszka, MD

Dr. Liszka joined the Tri-Area Community Health Center at Ferrum in November 2008 and previously practiced in Martinsville, VA. Originally from Poland, and educated in Poland, Sweden and Canada, Dr. Liszka began the practice of medicine in 1979. She has practiced in office, hospital, nursing homes, and in-home settings. She has special interests in minor surgery, dermatology, and gynecology.

She is a member of the Southern Medical Association, the Patrick Henry Medical Association, a Diplomat of the American Board of Family Practice, a Diplomat of the Canadian College of Family Practice, and has received the Physicians Recognition Award from the American Medical Association.

Dr. Liszka resides in Martinsville with her husband and son. She came to southwest Virginia from Nova Scotia, Canada in 1996 and loves the area because of the people, the beauty, and the weather conducive to gardening and many outdoor activities. She and her family passionately enjoy skiing, hiking, kayaking, and biking, and are members of the Blue Ridge Skiing and Outing Club. She also enjoys ballroom dancing.

 

Tabassum Subuhi, MD

Dr. Tabassum Subuhi, a board certified family medicine physician, joined the Tri-Area Community Health Center at Ferrum in 2008. She completed her residency in Family Medicine in Roanoke as well as a fellowship in Geriatric Medicine. Originally from Pakistan, she lives in Roanoke, VA with her husband and three children. She enjoys reading, traveling, playing tennis and watching sports.

 
 
 
 

April Hazelwood, PA

April Hazelwood, Certified Physician Assistant, joined the staff at Ferrum Community Health Center in January 2009. A native of Ferrum, she said, “I am excited about this new position that allows me to work in my home community.” April has experience in all aspects of patient care including physical exams, diagnosis and treatment of illness, and ordering and interpreting laboratory tests and diagnostic studies. She has practiced in office and hospital settings.

She is a graduate of the College of Health Sciences in Roanoke receiving a Bachelor of Science Degree in Allied Health as a Physician Assistant and is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. She lives in Ferrum, VA with her husband and son. She enjoys bowling and spending time with her family.
